First, the I Am Black Business team would like to thank all who have submitted businesses to the directory as well as those who have found businesses using the website. Our directory is just a tool and serves no function unless it is used. Your support will be important to the fulfilment of our mission.
Next, we'd like to share that our first beta update has now been applied at beta.iamblackbusiness.com. A short list of updates is below.
- Backend updates - Speed and security are always at the top of our priorities. This update as almost all updates will contain changes to improve on the speed and security of the website.
- Search algorithm updates - In a later post, we will discuss some of the tools we are using to provide the best results for every query. Our algorithms will evolve over time to be smarter and faster.
- Category/Subcategory updates - Our initial category and subcategory hierarchy was missing a few nodes.
- Business profile updates - For some newly added businesses, we found that we didn't cover all of the possible social media accounts so we will be adding additional social media accounts like Pinterest, Youtube, Vimeo, and a few more.
We really want businesses and consumers to be involved not only as users of the directory but provide feedback to improve it. I Am Black Business is being built as a community tool.
